Using Your Benefit Card

Your benefit card can be used at thousands of locations nationwide. It lets you pay for qualified medical expenses at health care providers that have a heath care-related merchant category code.

• Vision care offices
• Hospitals
• Other health care providers

You can also use your card at merchants that utilize an Inventory Information Approval System (IIAS). These merchants are known as IIAS merchants.

Special IRS rules apply to over-the-counter medicines. OTC medicines require a written or electronic doctor’s prescription to be an eligible FSA expense. Your card can be used to purchase OTC medicines only if you present the OTC prescription to a pharmacist and an Rx number is assigned … just like having a prescription filled.

Keep Your Receipts

Save all of your health FSA receipts and other supporting documentation. IRS rules require us to verify the eligibility of purchases made with your benefit card — known as transactions. You may receive a CONEXIS notice asking you to verify a transaction.
