Blood pressure that stays high for a long time can damage your heart and lead to health problems. Yet with little to no warning signs of high blood pressure, many people do not know they have it.
That's why it's important to be in the know and check your blood pressure on occasion. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends blood pressure less than 120/80, but be sure to ask your doctor what your target numbers should be.
Fortunately, even if your blood pressure is a little too high, there are steps you can take to help improve your blood pressure numbers:
•  Eat healthy foods that are low in saturated fat and sodium (salt).
•  Aim for 30 minutes each day of moderate aerobic activity (fast walking, bike riding, swimming, dancing, etc.).
•  Watch your weight – shedding a few extra pounds can help control your blood pressure.
•  Remember to take medicines as prescribed by your doctor.
Some more good news: You can use your Healthcare FSA dollars toward eligible expenses such as doctor visits, prescriptions, and over-the-counter healthcare items like blood pressure monitors. Your FSA funds may also potentially cover nutrition supplements or exercise equipment if recommended by a doctor to help treat or prevent a medical condition. If so, ask your doctor to complete a Medical Determination Form and submit the form along with your supporting documentation. You can find a Medical Determination Form in your online account.

How do I pay for eligible and ineligible healthcare items at checkout?
When using your CONEXIS Benefit Card at an IIAS merchant, you don't have to worry about which expenses qualify or splitting up your purchase at checkout – the store's computer system does it for you. Just swipe your benefit card, then use another form of payment (cash, personal credit or debit card, etc.) to purchase the ineligible items.
For example, let's say you go to a pharmacy to get a prescription filled. While there, you pick up bandages and hand sanitizer. At checkout, you'll pay for your prescription and bandages with your benefit card, and then you'll be asked to use another form of payment for the hand sanitizer, which is an ineligible expense.
